The Princess of Asturias Awards will premiere scenography at the Campoamor Theater | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

The award ceremony of the Princess of Asturias Awards, scheduled for October 22, will have this year with a renewed scenography in the Campoamor Theater from Oviedo which will include changes in the symbology and aesthetics, as well as improvements in security and accessibility.

This renewal coincides with the return of the ceremony presided over by the kings to its traditional setting, after the health crisis of the COVID-19 Last year it forced the celebration to be transferred to the Hotel de la Reconquista in Oviedo and to change its format with a very reduced capacity.

As the Princess of Asturias FoundationWithin this renovation, the symbols (flags and sculptures) and the decoration have been arranged in different scenographic planes and the Asturian roots of the institution have been reinforced by enhancing the yellow tone present on the stage, as a reflection of the one that appears on the stage. flag of Principality. The presence of the sculpture of the awards has also been highlighted, which will be present, in addition to the stage, in the waiting room of the winners and in the foyer of the theater.

Outside the Campoamor, the flags representing the nationalities of the winners will be placed on the balconies on the first floor, coming down from the roof where they usually were.

On the aesthetic level, a scenographic and visual axis has been designed that begins outside the theater itself with a blue carpet that marks the route and that extends beyond the presidential table itself, going up behind it.

Among other aspects, the stage has gained visual depth by dividing and superimposing the back panels and the color ranges used have been unified: blue, yellow and gray. A new carpet for the stage in two colors has also been produced with the current negative version of the Foundation’s shield and a new one has been manufactured for the foyer of the theater.

The renovation has also taken into account safety aspects, so that all the frames and fabrics on the stage have been replaced and fire and water resistant materials have been used wherever possible.

Regarding accessibility, the ramp present on the stage has been lowered to adapt it to current regulations and the access stairway has been improved (a ramp was not viable in this case), for which twelve seats had to be removed from the theater.

The Foundation has also highlighted the sustainability criteria followed in this renovation, since most durable elements and materials have been used in the manufacture of which the generation of the least possible impact on the environment was taken into account, using products of natural origin, biodegradable or recyclable. In this project, in addition to the Foundation team, some 80 people have participated and about 80 percent of the suppliers are from Asturias.
