When I opened my mailbox this afternoon, I saw to my great surprise that the visitors of Fashion Queen Máxima are apparently very interested in this weekend’s bridal couple. That’s why now online: a blog about the princely and noble friends of Willem-Alexander and Máxima.
For those who think: what is this about? Máxima and Amalia were in Austria on Saturday at the wedding of Prince Ferdinand zu Schwarzenberg and Marie Friling. According to the website Royal Musing, Prince Ferdinand zu Schwarzenberg is the son of Prince Friedrich Karl Joseph Johannes van Nepomuk Antonius Bartholomäus Felix Judas Thaddäus Conrad van Parzham. Quite a mouthful, but the arrival of the Oranges has everything to do with the bride. Marie Friling is the daughter of Antoine Friling. Maybe that name means nothing to you, but Antoine Friling is the godfather of Princess Ariane and also a good friend of King Willem-Alexander.

Another marriage
Last year, Willem-Alexander and Máxima were also present at a wedding on a stand. Philipp Eisl and Countess Tatjana zu Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems then gave each other the yes. These names may not sound familiar to you, but the bride’s parents belong to the circle of friends of the royal couple. A younger sister of the bride is the godchild of Willem-Alexander and was therefore also the bride’s child on 02-02-2002.

Another proof that the family is thick with the Oranges: the youngest sister of the bride is named after Máxima.
Another bridesmaid
The other bridesmaid seen above concerns Princess Pauline zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein. The former royal family maintains such good contacts with the Oranges that the king traveled to Germany 10 days after his inauguration for Pauline’s confession.
On holiday
At the beginning of June 2018, the royal couple were also in Germany, but this time for a cozy get-together with Count Marcus von Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff and his wife, Countess Annabelle. The two have a luxury wellness center near Driburg. A photo that has been leaked and may not be published here shows that Willem-Alexander and Máxima also spend the weekend with Baroness Julia von Jenisch and her sons Ferdinand and Philipp. Count Von Dürkheim Montmartin has also joined the group.
In the air
If we look at the noble friends in our own country, I end up with the Hungarian Jankovich de Jeszenice family, for example, who were incorporated into the Dutch nobility in 1976. Lady Alexandra Jankovich de Jeszenice is a friend of Máxima. You may know her name because she is godmother to Princess Alexia or from the website that Ma’xima and Alexandra launched in 2022 for Ukrainian refugees.

Tijo baron Collot d’Escury belongs to the Collot d’Escury family: a French family that belongs to the Dutch nobility. On 02-02-02 he was one of the witnesses of Prince Willem-Alexander and in 2007 we also got to see him during the baptism of Princess Ariane. Tijo baron Collot d’Escury is namely the godfather of the princess.
And oh yes, there are many more sounding names to mention of course. Would you like to add one to the list? Post it in a comment and we’ll just expand the king’s circle of friends 😉
