The reason Prince Charming returns to the Palazzo after the ceremony is the greatest anticlimax ever. At least for the viewer. Not for Eye Contact Casper, because he gets a special moment the next day. But why did the poor boy have to get back into his suit just to hear that brief message? He was already brushing his teeth in his boxers, ready to jump into bed next to Jakop. But Prince Chris first has him put on his clothes again, and then leaves the villa after one minute. Casper himself, of course, only looked at him with his big blue eyes and replied: ‘I look looking forward to it’.

Muscular Competitors

During the group date the next day I thought I was going to an episode of Expeditie Robinson was watching. Only this time there is no battle for immunity or a stay on winner’s island, but for a date. I would try harder for that. During a lengthy explanation of the trial – I mean the group activity – I still thought that any moment Chris would say “joking” and announce a game of beach volleyball. But no, the men really have to work up a sweat. I haven’t heard anyone complain yet. Everything for that coveted one-on-one date.

The first injuries are almost incurred while choosing a colored ribbon. Geez, everyone is blood fanatic. Doubtful Marcel jumps into the water first, but of course loses his shoe. And Michael – apparently the Pieter van den Hoogenband from Venezuela – breaks his toe during the course and then just keeps running. Spinning instructor Lars is the first to cross the finish line and gives a little sneer to the rest. According to him, there is a big difference between being fit and looking fit, with of course a reference to his muscular competitors in the Palazzo. The prince clearly prefers a toned body and crowns Jakop as the big winner.

First kiss

I totally agree with this, because OMG the image of Jakop and Michael running hand in hand on the beach is already the highlight of this season for me. Can this image please be on repeat? And in slow motion? An hour later Rick crosses the finish line and we knew that too. As he continues to complain about the pain, I just think; save the best for last. Because hello; this beautiful man should never grow his beard again.

The same evening Jakop can collect all his prize. He and the prince go on the first romantic one-on-one date, but cook for the second. No pasta this time, but long sausages on the barbecue. A starry sky, bottle of wine and candles will probably also help, but the chemistry is splashing off the screen again. It now seems to be mainly Prince Chris who flirts. He asks one personal question after another, touching it gently each time. And then there’s finally the long-awaited goodbye kiss! Prince Charming’s first kiss!

Uncomfortable pitch

The next morning, when everyone is chilling by the pool, the prince makes another unexpected visit. He seems to be using a whole new tactic. Or is just bored in his own hotel, that’s also possible. In any case, his excuse is that he wants to taste Michael’s infamous eggs. (How sweet was this tip from Jakop by the way!) Marcel first grabs his moment – at least an attempt at it – and sits down next to Chris. Because when he in turn takes off his shirt, Marcel slams shut again.

Finally, the injured Michael has his first moment with the prince. But no sooner have the eggs been packed at the kitchen island than eight well-oiled men are already standing around them. At least Jimmy offers another glass of water in the background, but Lars goes too far in my opinion. He just unabashedly hijacks Chris and subjects him to an awkward pitch. Did he really say; ‘with every answer you give I have the same answer in my head’?! (Does anyone have a bowl?)

Fortunately, there comes a lifesaver Marcel. Hi Marcel; do you ask the prince to bed in broad daylight while in the evening you can’t get out of your words with a cocktail in your hand in neon yellow crop top?! you go girl! And that decisiveness is then also rewarded with a kiss. HOPE! Prince Charming’s second kiss! The prince is clearly on a roll. Unfortunately double bad luck for Michael. A broken toe and a broken heart. Because after hours of beating eggs in the kitchen, the prince doesn’t even sit down for breakfast. Luckily Michael stays with a big smile stumble around, but blame him for once. I would too if I had teeth like that.

At the ceremony that same evening I sit on the couch in shock. Eye contact Casper is the only one who doesn’t get a tie bar, even though he opened himself so vulnerable that morning. I didn’t see this choice coming for the first time. Casper has built up a wall due to an emotional event in the past and is therefore not so easily exposed. Chris clearly doesn’t have time for this. But dear prince, you can’t tear down a wall in a few days. It is, after all, a wall, not a picket fence.

Less than five seconds later, the prince seems to regret his decision, as he returns to the Palazzo again after the ceremony. This time running and in tears. The tease next week promises to be one big drama! I don’t want to fall for it again, because let’s be honest, this week was disappointing in terms of tension. But in episode 6, two candidates do go to bed with each other and one of them seems to be none other than porn actor Rick. Who then voluntarily wants to pack his bags!

And I don’t know what kind of transformation the dubious Marcel went through in those few days, but it goes like a rocket. Between him and the prince, it doesn’t stop with that one good kiss… Jimmy’s pep talk probably helped. Let’s hope Jimmy will follow his own advice, because the prince closed the ceremony with the words that he needs to show a little more initiative. In any case, I’m ready for it again, because the long-awaited drama finally seems to be breaking out.
