Mechernich Tollities are calling for carnival blood donations in Mechernich – lifesavers can donate on Thursday, November 28th, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Red Cross Center at Bruchgasse 34
Mechernich – Farmer and Jungfrau are leaving for health reasons. “Then I just have to donate a liter and a half,” jokes Prince Joachim I (Vossel). But it’s really just for fun. Because even with a simple, blue-blooded blood donation, the donors only take the usual 500 milliliters of blood. But they have it all: this amount can save the lives of up to three people.
The number three then leads back to the triumvirate consisting of Prince Joachim I, farmer Werner (Echtner) and virgin Johanna (Johann Klöcker). They are calling for carnival blood donations on Thursday, November 28th. From 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., lifesavers can donate at the Mechernich Red Cross Center, Bruchgasse 34.
For Prince Joachim I (Vossel) this is a matter of the heart. “This will be my 76th donation to the Red Cross in Mechernich,” says the foolish regent of the town on Bleiberg. The donation is also a family affair. “My wife Annette also donates and helps with the DRK,” said the prince, who has already registered with an entourage for Thursday afternoon.
Reserve an appointment online
Registering is easy via the internet. Anyone who is allowed and wants to donate can reserve an appointment at www.blutspende.jetzt. You must then bring your ID card or driver’s license with you to the appointment. The actual blood donation takes around five to ten minutes, after which the donors remain relaxed for around ten minutes. Afterwards there will be a delicious snack and until the end of the year the DRK will give every life giver a gift with a stylish enamel cup.
“Even though we can rely on our loyal blood donors in the Euskirchen district and our donor numbers are currently stable, we are very grateful for the support of the great people from Mechernich and the region,” emphasizes Red Cross district manager Rolf Klöcker.
Edeltraud Engelen, the Red Cross blood donation representative in the Euskirchen district, adds: “It’s great that the foolish rulers are promoting the good cause everywhere in the district. Because blood donations are an important help in giving seriously ill patients a chance of survival. In North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland alone, up to 3,500 blood units are needed every day.”
Anyone who wants to donate blood must be at least 18 years old and feel healthy. There is no longer an upper age limit for blood donors. If you are unsure whether you are allowed to donate blood, for example because you are taking certain medications, you can inquire in advance free of charge by calling the DRK blood donation service hotline on 0800 1194911 or do a quick online check at www.blutspende.jetzz.
In any case, Prince Joachim I, farmer Werner and virgin Johanna appeal to all Mechernich fools: “Everyone come and donate blood and become life savers.”
