Prince William and Princess Catherine attend the rugby union match between England and Wales
It is no longer necessary to recall how competitive the Prince and Princess of Wales are. This Saturday, that competitive spirit was to be put to the test as William and Catherine traveled to Cardiff to each support two opposing teams as they clashed in rugby.
Prince William is the godfather of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), the Welsh rugby union federation, while Catherine is the godmother of the Rugby Football Union, the English rugby union federation. The Princess of Wales inherited this patronage last year, after Prince Harry stepped down from the post.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, 40 and 41, traveled to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium to watch the rugby union match between Wales and England. Although the Welsh played at home, it was the English who won the match. “England won but did not really reassure against Wales this Saturday (10-20)”explain Eurosport. “Far from setting up a flamboyant game, the two teams multiplied their kicks to put the other under pressure and push them to make mistakes in their camp. More disciplined, sharper in defense and more daring with the ball in hand, the English finally dominated the brave but struggling Welsh in the game.

Catherine brought good luck to the England team as a whole patriotic
Before the match, the Prince and Princess of Wales met injured rugby players who are receiving support from the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust. This fund is supported by the Prince William Foundation. Finally, the heir couple also inaugurated the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite, a new space installed within the Cardiff stadium where former players can attend the match with their families.
For this sporty and patriotic outing, the Princess of Wales wore a long red and white houndstooth coat, the two colors of England. This Catherine Walker coat reminded royal watchers of the Moschino houndstooth outfit worn in 1990 by Diana, the previous Princess of Wales.
