Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bethel was placed under hospital supervision for 24 hours today “as a precautionary measure” for further tests, after a week ago his test for covid was positive, AFP reported, quoted by BTA. The agency cites a government statement.
On June 27, the 48-year-old Bethel was isolated for ten days, less than 48 hours after attending an EU summit in Brussels, where he spoke with other European leaders. His symptoms were mild – fever and headache.
Bethel was vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca on May 6.
For ten days, there has been an increase in coronavirus infections in Luxembourg, which has a population of 630,000. According to data from yesterday, the new cases are 136 people. Such high levels have not been recorded since mid-May.
