Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Kon Tum province, asked the Prime Minister to consider, support and orient the development ideas of the master plan of Mang Den National Tourist Area; for the policy of developing pilot regulations on specific mechanisms and policies.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister asked Kon Tum province to have a fast and sustainable development orientation; implement Resolution 08 on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector and Resolution 23 of the Politburo on socio-economic development in the Central Highlands with a vision to 2045.

For the planning of Mang Den National Tourist Area, he required to promote the potential and competitive advantages, the planning must have a long-term strategic vision. In addition, in the development of local tourism, it is necessary to promote local human resources, preserve the natural landscape and make the most of natural advantages.

For sustainable development, Kon Tum needs to focus on investing in the development of transport infrastructure, culture, education, health… Specifically, promoting public-private partnership; self-reliance, self-reliance, self-reliance or not relying on dependence.

Two traffic projects help Kon Tum “take off”

From June 2023, the Ministry of Transport has written feedback, sent to the People’s Committees of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces on the addition of the Quang Ngai – Kon Tum expressway planning.

The ministry asked the two provinces to direct relevant agencies and units to coordinate with the Road Administration in updating the provincial planning and relevant tourism, industrial, urban, and commercial plannings.

On that basis, review and adjust the road network planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 to report to the competent authorities for consideration and decision.

The expressway is expected to be 135.93 km long, with four lanes, a width of 22 m-25.25 m, and a design speed of 80-100 km/h. The route will run parallel and have some intersections with Highway 24.

The new expressway connecting the two provinces will create a premise for the formation of an expressway network connecting the North-South Expressway to the East and North-South Expressway to the West. This will also be the shortest connection route from the border gates of Laos and Cambodia in the Central Highlands to the North-South roads.

Regarding Mang Den Airport, Kon Tum province has proposed the policy of making a project to evaluate the planning ability and propose investment in the construction of the airport in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP) in Mang Den town, Kon Plong district.

Expected airport level is 4E, designed capacity of 3-5 million passengers/year, implementation period from 2023 to 2027.

According to the Ministry of Transport, in addition to the planned airports, the Prime Minister directed to continue to study, survey and evaluate the possibility of planning to become an airport for some potential locations and make additional reports. planning when eligible, including the expected location in Mang Den town.
