As already reported, in February, the announcement about the sale of the house of Džemma Skulme Mežaparks was published by the painter Kristīne Dimitere, at that time indicating the price of 1.3 million euros.
Jemma Skulme passed away last November. Un vartist Juris Dimiters, who lives with his family in the family house together with his sister Marta Skulme’s family, has already honestly admitted that heirs Mežaparks property can not afford maintenancet. With Jamma’s polite pension, which was around 2,150 euros a month, it has been possible to pay for utilities, pay gas and electricity bills, and pay in part real estate tax, which currently exceeds two and a half thousand euros a year, or a round 666 euros each quarter.
“Well, my sister and I have no choice but to sell the house and provide another place to live that the poor can afford,” the artist’s son Juris Dimiters, who calculates that the monthly income of the family has decreased 16 times since his mother’s death, is realistic. “Because my pension is 130 euros, the pension of Sister Marta’s disability group is also insignificant,” he explains. Dimiters emphasizes that his heart aches when he starts selling family relics – his mother’s paintings – while “enslaving” the house.
Already in February, Dimitrs stated – due to the high price, it is possible that the house will not be sold this year, or even in the next five years. “Because we still all hope that with the support of some art lovers, this building could become a museum. As soon as such initiatives emerge, we will do our utmost to support them. But then we need a place to live – for my family, my sister and my nephew’s family, ”Dimiters does not hide.
