The price of pork in Latvia in August this year was on average 9.4% higher than in the corresponding month a year ago, according to the data of the Market and Direct Support Department of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

At the same time, in the European Union (EU), the price of pork in August 2021 was on average 3.4% lower than in the corresponding month of 2020. Among other things, the price of pork in Denmark fell by 8.4% last month, compared to August a year earlier, in Germany – by 6.8%, in Estonia – by 2.4%, and in Poland – by 1.4%. Meanwhile, the price of pork in Lithuania in August increased by 4.8% year-on-year.
Published data also show that pork in Latvia in August paid more than the EU average. The average market price of pork carcass in August in August was 145.71 euros per 100 kilograms, while in Latvia – 153.11 euros per 100 kilograms.
At the same time, the market price of pig carcasses in Estonia in August was 148.73 euros per 100 kilograms, in Lithuania – 145.34 euros per 100 kilograms, in Denmark – 145.23 euros per 100 kilograms, in Poland – 144.50 euros per 100 kilograms, and in Germany – 141.95 euros per 100 kilograms.
