Because of the soaring demand, prices also rose. For example, at the Manggis Market, Manggarai area, South Jakarta, the price of an oxygen cylinder measuring 1 m is priced at Rp. 1 million.
Before the COVID-19 case exploded, the tube of that size was sold for between Rp. 500 thousand to Rp. 600 thousand.
To maintain the availability of tubes oxygen, the seller also limits the sale per person is only allowed to buy 2-3 oxygen cylinders.
“Yes, it is limited to a maximum of 2-3 pcs per person. The price for the small gas cylinder is now Rp. 1 million, which is 1 m, we don’t have stock for 1 , if the 2 m is Rp. 1.7 million,” said Ervan , oxygen cylinder trader at Mangosteen Market, Saturday (26/6/2021).
Ervan added that the demand for oxygen cylinders had soared by 100 percent in the last five days.
“Demand for oxygen cylinders and refills is increasing rapidly, like this it was only 5 days before it was crowded but it can still be controlled. oxygen 5 today 300 small tubes,” said Ervan
How about in an online store? In one online store, the price of a 1 m oxygen cylinder is priced at Rp. 2.4 million to Rp. 5.4 million. Meanwhile, the 2 m size is sold at a price range of Rp 5.5 million-Rp 11 million.
Then in other online stores, tube oxygen with a size of 1 m is priced at a price range of Rp. 850,000-Rp. 2.2 million.
