The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers linked to the wholesale market will drop this Wednesday to 98.93 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which represents a decrease of 18.23% compared to 120.99 euros/ MWh yesterday and falls below the barrier of 100 euros/MWh for the first time in the last nine days.

In the auction, the average price of light in the wholesale market -the so-called ‘pool’– stands for this Wednesday at 98.93 euros/MWh. The minimum price, of 60.2 euros/MWh, will be given between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., while the maximum price will be recorded between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., when it will be 140 euros/MWh.

Compensation for gas companies is added to this pool price, which must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, They have an indexed rate, which for this Wednesday will be at 0 euros/MWh for the tenth consecutive day.

In this sense, the average price of electricity until March 8 stands at 135.1 euros/MWh, that is, about 7.5 euros higher than the average of 127.61 euros/MWh for the same period of the month. past.

The ‘Iberian mechanism’, which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering next winter, a period in which energy prices are more expensive.

Specifically, the ‘Iberian exception’ sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months, and subsequently, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure. . Throughout the month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
