The price of electricity in Bulgaria has almost doubled since the beginning of the year and this is not the limit, BGNES writes.
From the beginning of the year the average price of electricity in our country is 93.75 euros (183.36 leva) per megawatt hour, and from the beginning of November it is 199.29 euros (389.77 leva), according to the data of the energylive.cloud platform. . In the last two months – October and November – it has reached peaks twice, the last one this week.
On November 17, the price of electricity in the Day Ahead segment jumped by 10.8% to EUR 248.09 or BGN 485.22. This is a record price of electricity in our country, after overcoming the previous price peak of BGN 481.81, which was reached on October 19.
Wednesday’s price was not only a kind of home record, but was also among the top three, ranking us third in the Balkans and the EU. Only Greece and Romania were worthy competitors, which were a little ahead of us.
After this peak, a correction was registered. The price of electricity in Bulgaria in the Day Ahead segment with delivery on Saturday (November 20) is EUR 200.16 or BGN 391.48 per megawatt hour. This represents a decrease of 10.7%. Within the market segment “within the day” of the Bulgarian Independent Energy Exchange (IBEX), the weighted average electricity price is BGN 486.69 per megawatt-hour.
The cheapest electricity on November 20 will have industrialized countries in the heart of Europe – Germany, Austria, Benelux, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The latter is the only European country where the price of electricity is in double digits – a record low of 89.04 per megawatt-hour.
For comparison, in Germany, electricity on Saturday will cost 110.22 euros per megawatt-hour; Czech Republic – 133.78 euros; Slovakia – 147.89 euros. The most expensive is electricity in France – 231.13 euros per megawatt-hour, Italy – 230.29 euros; Greece – 222.22 euros.
