The grain exchange is going through a turbulent period. Today, for example, the price of corn once again exceeded that of wheat according to the latest quotations on the Paris Stock Exchange.
In contracts for delivery in March, both wheat and corn have prices falling. MATIF wheat is quoted at €291 per tonne, while MATIF maize is trading at €294.50 per tonne. In the case of future crops, contracts close at 283.25 euros per ton for wheat delivered in September and at 275 euros for corn delivered in November.
The price of MATIF rapeseed from the upcoming harvest ends at a price of 555 euros for the August contracts, according to Agritel.com.
Corn remained cheaper than wheat on the American market
Corn remains cheaper than wheat on the Chicago Stock Exchange. In next month contracts, CBoT wheat is at 753 cents/bushel today, while corn is at 681.50 cents/bushel.
Important increases are noted in the American soybean market, where the price rose to 1545.75 cents per bushel today.
In the Port of Constanța, during the last trading week, February 9-15, the price of wheat FOB Constanța was 1,535 lei per ton, and for corn FOB Constanța, the price was 1,449 lei per ton.
We remind you to, according to the information Agrointelligence – AGROINTEL.RO, Romanian farmers still have important stocks of wheat, but especially corn from last year’s harvest. Farmers hesitate to sell because of low prices, but also because demand is low, with many processors opting for grain from Ukraine, which comes to Romania at a lower price.
