/ world today news/ The president of the American corporation “Westinghouse” Danny Roderick arrived on a visit to Bulgaria.
Mr. Roderik will talk with representatives of the Bulgarian government and the native energy companies.
In 2013, Bulgaria decided to build a reactor using American technology at the Kozloduy NPP site. This happened after the visit of the Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev to the USA. It is about the AP1000 Westinghouse reactor, which has a capacity of 1100 MW and is of generation three plus. It will be able to produce environmentally friendly and cheap electricity for 60 years.
Bulgaria will not spend a single lev of budget money for the construction of the new nuclear power plant. The project will be financed by the American “Eximbank” and a Japanese financial institution.
The construction of unit 7 of the Kozloduy NPP according to an American project is also of great importance for the diversification of sources of supply of nuclear fuel. Thus, our country will no longer be dependent on a single source, which is also in sync with the European energy policy.
