Stuttgart. The president of the Bundesliga soccer club VfB Stuttgart, Claus Vogt, is campaigning for a strengthening of the 50+1 rule. “Fortunately, the clubs here are strongly characterized by members,” he told the “kicker” (Monday edition).
“That’s why I don’t think new investors are always the solution.” There is no Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo playing in Germany, but the stadiums are full. “In 2022/23 we had the highest ticket sales in the history of the Bundesliga,” said Vogt. “I have doubts that more money if it only goes to players and agents will automatically lead to more interesting and sustainable competition.”
He is committed to ensuring that German football continues in 50 + 1. “50+1 is the better solution for the league in the long term – this is the message that needs to be conveyed.”
