The president of the World Bank has resigned

World Bank President David Malpas announced his intention to leave his post at the end of June.

“I have notified the Governing Council of my intention to step down as President of the World Bank Group before the end of the financial year.

I am very pleased with progress in our main work areasincluding the global crisis response package and development roadmap, and I believe the next few months will provide a good opportunity for a smooth leadership transition,” Malpass said in a statement to reporters.
