US President Joe Biden has proposed a ban on the sale of assault weapons and magazines with cartridges for them, as well as raising the age for purchasing firearms from 18 to 21.

The head of state also called for tougher verification of documents when making a purchase of weapons. He emphasized that it is time for the Senate to make radical decisions on this issue and specifically addressed the Republicans, who oppose stricter gun control.
It is noted that no restrictive measures on the circulation of weapons have been introduced into US law since 1968, when a law still in force was adopted that regulates the rules for buying and selling weapons.
