Ukrainian troops are preparing for a counteroffensive. This was announced today, January 25, by US President Joe Biden.
“As spring approaches, Ukrainian forces are working to defend the territory they hold and are preparing for additional counter-offensives,” Biden said in a televised address.
The American leader officially announced the delivery of 31 Abrams tanks to Kyiv, as well as eight recovery vehicles. All this will be formed into a tank battalion and they plan to use the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the counteroffensive during the spring-summer campaign.
A high-ranking representative of the US administration announced the start of a training program for Ukrainians to work with Abrams tanks.
“Now we are starting to work on an extensive training program, since these tanks are a complex system that requires a lot of training and technical support,” an administration official said.
