“On November 4, the president was moved to a standard bed in the rehabilitation department,” said Jitka Zinke, a spokeswoman for the Prague Military University Hospital.
Zeman was hospitalized for problems related to his “known chronic illnesses” caused by “slowed up intake of nutrients and fluids.”
“The president’s clinical condition has improved,” Zinke added.
The president, who has the power to nominate the next prime minister, was taken to hospital on October 10, the day after the election, in which the opposition won an absolute majority, winning 108 of the 200 seats in the lower house of parliament.
The senators considered declaring Zeman incapable of holding office, but with the formation of the center-right bloc with a majority in parliament, the political crisis was judged to have been avoided.
Local media report that the president has serious liver problems due to alcohol use.
The policy veteran was forced to use a wheelchair this year because his leg nerves had been affected by diabetes.
