The president of Tanzania, who denied COVID-19 – World, has died

Tanzanian President John Magufuli, who was among the most stubborn COVID-19 leaders, has died, Reuters reported.

The news was announced by Vice President Sami Suluhu Hassan after Magufuli had not appeared for more than two weeks.

Speculation has surfaced since February 27 that he contracted the coronavirus, but authorities denied last week that it was working as usual.

There is no confirmation that his death was linked to the virus, but authorities say there are heart problems. The African country has not counted the cases since May and has registered only 509 and the government has declared it free of COVID.

Only last month, however, after many foreign tourists, including Bulgarians, had already visited the country, Magufuli acknowledged that it had a problem. Earlier, the virus killed the vice president of Zanzibar, where the main flow of tourists.
