The President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizoreported that he has intermediate-risk blood cancer and that he will travel to Houston, United States, to undergo a more specialized evaluation.
“I make public knowledge that following medical recommendations, on July 1, 2022, after the Report to the Nation, I will be traveling to Texas for a specialized evaluation, after I was diagnosed with intermediate-risk myelodysplastic syndrome,” Cortizo reported last night. on his Twitter profile.
According to the 69-year-old president, last May his doctor ordered him to undergo some studies after detecting irregular values in a laboratory test.
“Everything was fine in May, except for a dysfunction in the hemoglobin and white blood cell count. As a result of this my GP recommended me to see doctors who considered doing a biopsy, the samples were sent to a laboratory of the United States,” said Cortizo.
“I want to express that I feel good, in good spirits and that I will continue with my regular work,” added the Panamanian President.
