The Mexican government will present a plan to the UN to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, in shape Reuters.

The plan includes the creation of a mediation committee that will include Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Pope Francis. The mediators will begin talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach a “truce of at least five years”.

Other details of the plan are not yet known. Obrador promised to talk about it in more detail in his speech dedicated to the celebration of Mexico’s independence on Friday 16 September.

“I will talk about world peace, I will talk about Mexico’s position on the war in Russia and Ukraine and I will present a peace proposal to the UN,” said the Mexican president.

Furthermore, the head of Mexico criticized the United Nations and called for its reform.
