The President of Georgia was arrested after the elections

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili believes she may be arrested. This is likely to be the case if the anti-Russian Georgian Dream party wins the parliamentary elections.

The President of Georgia was asked to predict what will happen if the Georgian Dream wins the upcoming parliamentary elections, which will be held on October 26.

“If this happens, I will probably be fired and sent to prison,” Zurabishvili replied.

Impeachment of Zurabishvili

It is worth noting that the Georgian Dream now has a majority in the Georgian parliament. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is the controversial pro-Russian politician Irakli Kobakhidze.

Last year they wanted to impeach Zurabishvili because she traveled abroad to Europe without permission from the government, as specified in the constitution.

The Constitutional Court of Georgia allowed the impeachment procedure to begin. But there were not enough votes in parliament for such a measure. At least 100 deputies had to vote for the initiative, but in total there were only 86 votes.

Recently, the head of the Georgian parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, assured “at the first meetings of the new convocation” that the impeachment of Zurabishvili will be initiated.
