The National Security Advisory Council will discuss the risks for Bulgaria after the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. President Rumen Radev gathers at 10 o’clock the heads of the security services, the representatives of the executive power and the parliamentary parties.
The participants in the CSNS meeting will assess the situation after the start of Israel’s ground operation against the Shiite group “Hezbollah” on the territory of Lebanon and Iran’s massive missile attack on Israel. The meeting will discuss the threats to our country, as well as the measures that the institutions should take due to the tension in the region.
Rumen Radev has already indicated what the potential risks are:
“What we have to monitor and what we do on a daily basis with both the security services and the government is an assessment of the situation. And the risk assessment for us is still the probability of an increase in migration pressure towards Bulgaria, and also seeing the huge difference in the military potential of “Hezbollah”, I am talking as a weapon, as an organization against one of the most high-tech armies in the world. As a result, we are monitoring and can expect a response with asymmetric means, that is, with terrorist attacks. That’s what we’re really focusing on right now.”
