President Pedro Castillo’s lawyer, Benji Espinoza, assured that the head of state answered all the questions asked by the Attorney General’s Office in the procedure that took place this Friday, June 17.
“The President of the Republic, being able, according to the law, to have the National Prosecutor visit his office, the President has not, as a gesture towards the country, has gone to the National Prosecutor’s Office, has been received by Mr. Prosecutor of the Nation, Pablo Sánchez Velarde and He has answered all the questions that have been put to him for four hours. In none has remained silent, all have been answered“, expressed the lawyer before the press.
Espinoza reported that not only were questions “depending on the folder that the Office of the Prosecutor of the Nation has”but mention was also made of two parallel investigations “That of Dr. Zecenarro, Second Prosecutor for Corruption, and that of Dr. Taquire, Second Prosecutor for Money Laundering.”

Regarding the answers provided by Castillo, he explained that he cannot go into details because the “Criminal Procedure Code is quite clear, the content of the investigation is reserved”.
“I can say, yes, that of the 32 sheets that have been answered, the hundred questions that have been asked, all have been answered, at no time has silence been kept“added the lawyer.
However, regarding the suspicion that the president would lead a criminal organization, he indicated that he has emphatically denied it.
“There is no criminal organization in which the president is involved and the greatest gesture that does not exist is that today he has gone to the office of the Prosecutor of the Nation to testify”, he stressed.
According to the lawyer, the The Prosecutor’s Office can ask to expand the testimony of the dignitary while the investigation is still in force and the Judiciary has not ruled on his request to annul the process.
“Rest assured that the President of the Republic today and always will show his face and give the corresponding explanations,” the lawyer pointed out.
