The presentation of the annual music recording award “Golden Microphone” is approaching

The group “Bel Tempo” with the album “Pessimismus” was nominated in the “Golden Microphone” category “Debut album”.

“This year has been full of events. We released an album, a couple of songs, had concerts both in Latvia and abroad,” says J. Melngailis, a member of the group.

Speaking about the “Golden Microphone” ceremony, J. Melngailis says: “It’s hard to predict what will happen, but the fact that we are nominated is very cool, because we have been working in the studio for several years without performing concerts, and we could only imagine how people would perceive our music. It’s cool to be recognized for what you’ve done.”

The band performed at music conferences abroad. Until now, the group has played in Lithuania and Hungary and will go to Slovenia at the end of March.

“All the performances have been very cool. We ourselves like what we do,” says J. Melngailis.

The name of the band’s nominated album is “Pessimismus”.

“Writing albums was a way to process feelings and emotions,” J. Melngailis explains the title of the album. The band finished this album a year ago and it coincided with the start of the war.

In 900 seconds, Bel Tempo performed the song “What Now”, which the band wrote under the influence of the war.

“After the war started, it put us on pause. For a month we were very unproductive and we could only talk about one thing, the events in Ukraine. We take this song as such After written for the album “Pessimismus”, says J. Melngailis.

It has already been reported that the “Golden Microphone 2023” award ceremony will take place on February 18 at the Ķīpsala exhibition center, and this year the audience will also be able to experience the important event for the industry in person.
