The presence of the Taliban in Afghanistan is said to make ISIS run rampant

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Presence of the regime Taliban from Afghanistan called the envoy of the United Nations (PBB) actually made the existence of ISIS even more rampant in almost the entire region.

The Taliban had previously vowed to crush ISIS and its terrorist acts.

But quoting Reuters, UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons, admits to being pessimistic about the reality. On the other hand, he said that ISIS Khorasan (ISIS-K) was increasingly carrying out terror attacks throughout Afghanistan.

Moreover, Lyons told the UN Security Council, the Taliban’s brutal actions against ISIS have only made the group more rampant with suicide bombings.

He said the Taliban prefer detention outside the court to the killing of suspected ISIS members. The move taken by the Taliban has the potential to make the ISIS movement even wider in Afghanistan.

“This is an area that deserves more attention by the international community,” said Lyons.

Lyons indicated that ISIS is now moving freely in 34 provinces in Afghanistan to carry out terror.

The steps taken by the Taliban today are incapable of curbing the development of ISIS in Afghanistan.

“Once confined to a number of provinces and capitals, ISIS-K now appears to be present in almost all provinces and increasingly active,” Lyons said.

On the one hand, the Taliban who now control the government still rejects representatives from all factions and marginalizes women’s rights.

Humanitarian missions to the United Nations regularly receive reports of the sweeping and killing of former Afghan soldiers by the Taliban.
