Squadron 42 will appear when the game is over and Chris Roberts deems it appropriate. Recurring questions about the single player campaign module in Star Citizen, provoked the founder of Cloud Imperium Games studio to raise this topic in a question and answer session game forum.
You don’t ask what we’re working on Squadron 42. You just want to know when we will release this module. The best answer is – when will we finish it. We will not plan the premiere just to have a specific date. We want to have the right technology and content to be refined. We have to be sure that the game will be a lot of fun. I am not going to compromise on creating a title that I have put all my heart and soul into.

Chris Roberts added that even though everyone wants to finish this project as soon as possible, releasing something that doesn’t meet the quality standards imposed by the studio is out of the question.
And what about promised in July ?? a road map ?? to familiarize us with the development plans of Squadron 42? In short – it will be. Let us give the floor to Mr. Roberts:
The map will show our progress and the closer we are to the end of the work, the more accurately we will be with our goals. However, our plans will not be perfect. I don’t have a glass ball and I can’t predict everything.

Finally, there is also a comparison with Red Dead Redemption 2 i Cyberpunk 2077 as examples of games that aimed (or in the case of a CD Projekt RED game) very high and their premieres were postponed so that the developers could fulfill their ambitions. Hopefully with Squadron 42 (and the whole project Star Citizen) it will be similar and the games will just show up.
