The Premier League will require four infections to suspend games

In total, 22 games have had to be suspended in the Premier League, one of the most controversial being Arsenal and Tottenham

The Premier League has updated the requirements to postpone matches due to covid and will require that there be at least four infections in the team in order to request a suspension.

Until this moment, The main requirement that the Premier took into account when suspending a match was that a team did not have thirteen field players and a goalkeeper available, taking into account infected, injured, sanctioned and players out for national teams.

In total, 22 games have had to be suspended in the Premier League, one of the most controversial being the Arsenal and the Tottenham Hotspur, which was postponed despite the fact that the ‘gunboats’ only had one positive case of covid.

From now on, the clubs will have to present four positive cases to be eligible for a postponement. This measure will come into force before the match between the Burnley and the Watford next February 5.

Besides, the Premier plans to remove emergency measures against covid by February 28, although they will be reviewed week by week. Contagions in the league have been halved in the last week, with 16 cases among footballers and club employees, which is 17 fewer than the previous week.
