He Atalanta has shown a strong interest in Matt O’Riley, midfielder of the Celticbut his persistence has been frustrated so far. The Scottish club has rejected as many as five offers from the Italian team, despite the remarkable performance of O’Riley last season, where he scored 19 goals and added 18 assists.
Celtic rejected £20m for O’Riley
O’Riley, 23, who has a contract with Celtic until 2027, has attracted interest from several European clubs due to his outstanding performances. It’s not just Atalanta who have tried to sign him; Atletico Madrid also made an attempt in January, submitting a £20m bid that was also rejected by the Scottish club.
The Danish international has proven to be a key player for Celtic, contributing significantly in both playmaking and playmaking. His ability to create chances and score goals has made him a coveted target, especially for teams looking to bolster their midfield with proven young talent.
Despite Celtic’s repeated refusals, Atalanta have not given up on the idea of bringing O’Riley into their ranks. However, the value Celtic place on O’Riley has made negotiations difficult, and so far, the Italian side’s attempts have not been enough to convince the Scots to let their star player go.
