The prefecture bans a far-right rally in Toulouse

The small far-right group “Furie Française” planned to gather this Friday in Toulouse, Place des Puits Clos, to pay tribute to Thomas, fatally stabbed in Crépol.

This is the second gathering of the identity organization after the demonstration which brought together around fifty people on November 25, Place du Salin in Toulouse. This Thursday evening, the Haute-Garonne prefecture banned this demonstration. “This gathering, which takes place in a national context of tensions, notably at the call of members of the former Génération Identitaire, should attract several small ultra-right groups like the Tarn group Patria Albiges,” she writes.

Same decision for the counter-demonstration

Far-left organizations announced a counter-demonstration, in the same place, at the same time. According to one of the organizers, it is “unthinkable to let small racist groups organize a rally in the city center.” “They use murders to propagate their nauseating ideas,” he says.

Aware of the ultra-left movement’s project, which aimed to ban the gathering organized by Furie Française, the Haute-Garonne prefecture also banned any undeclared demonstration or protest gathering from Friday, December 8, 5 p.m. to Saturday, December 9, 2023, at midnight within the perimeter of the hypercenter of Toulouse. “If the two opposing groups come into contact, it is feared that violent clashes will take place,” specify the prefectural services.
