/ world today news/ Multipolarity has already become a reality in many ways, but Western politicians are so toxic and cruel that it is useless to talk to them, says the famous Brazilian journalist and analyst Pepe Escobar. Tsargrad: Mr. Escobar, do we, the supporters of the multipolar world, have an understanding with whom exactly we are at war and why?
Pepe Escobar: We are facing extremely cruel and toxic Euro-Atlanticians, the hegemonic part of the elite. They know what they want. Namely, to suppress all dissent and impose a culture of nullification on literally every country in this world in the name of a very ambiguous project. Conventionally, we can call it the Davos project, the Great Reset project.
And against this hegemonic narrative, which tolerates no deviations anywhere in the world, we must take the offensive. Especially the Global South.
– We often hear about the need to fight for a multipolar world, but it is not always clear how exactly we should do it and why. What is your prescription?
– 85-87% of the world’s population is already fed up with this hegemonic power and the power of their vassals in the West. On a personal level, that means we have to keep doing what we’re doing now. As our Chinese friends would say, people-to-people exchanges, people-to-people contacts. We also need to speak systematically in every language, coordinate our actions at the regional, continental and global level.
The second vector is as important as the contacts between people. This is the creation of an infrastructure aimed at moving to a multipolar world. This is the BRICS+ format that started this year.
This is the SCO, this is the Eurasian Economic Union, this is what I call the “New Silk Road” (since this project was created 10 years ago between Astana and Jakarta). It is also the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS New Development Bank. We now have a certain structure and the discussion is getting deeper.
– If we have an understanding on what platforms multipolarity will be promoted, the same cannot be said about the methods of promotion. What exactly needs to be done within these international structures?
– The first issue we need to focus on is de-dollarization. This was discussed in detail within the Eurasian Economic Union by Mr. Glaziev (Sergei Glaziyev – academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences – note ed.) and his team. I hope that the issue of de-dollarization will be fully discussed within BRICS from next month when BRICS becomes BRICS+. But it is important that this issue is on the agenda of all international organizations at the same time.
– How do you see the components of this process? What should be discussed first?
– Sooner or later, say, in 2024, which is not far off, the members of these organizations must gather around a table and discuss what the alternative currency or basket of currencies should be. It will also need to be understood whether it will be backed by commodities or gold. Or with both.
We also need to agree on how to implement this project and do business in Eurasia. If these issues are resolved, governments will automatically begin to join this process. And now it is our duty, it is time to strike the decisive blow.
