They believed the Villeneuvois on Tuesday evening in the cauldron of the sports complex. In front of Chartres, the red lantern of this Pro A showed courage, fighting spirit, character also with two young table tennis players established on the match sheet, Yohan Derit and Jules Cavaillé.
The latter also fought a great battle at the start of the evening against the Brazilian Victor Ishy, who was nevertheless better ranked on paper. The two men put on a great show behind the table with long rallies, onion points and powerful shots. If the resident of the PPCV lost on the wire the first set (10-12), he was able to remobilize and go back on the offensive to win the other 3 sets, thus offering the first point to his team.
The PPCV ends up cracking
The second standoff of this night was certainly the most beautiful in terms of emotions, sensations and twists. New student in the Pro A class this season, Yohan Derit did not have any complex in front of the Hungarian Bence Majoros. If he was shaken during the first two sets (6/11, 7/11), the young Villeneuvois did not give up, courageously climbing the slope and gradually reversing the trend. Derit was on cloud nine, playing fair, hitting the ball with great precision, pushing his opponent to a fault, and resetting the counters to zero. Finally, the public was treated to a beautiful anthology with two players looking for the knockout and going after their efforts. After saving 2 match points, Yohan Derit finally won his mental fight (14-12 in the 5th set), being able to celebrate his very first victory in Pro A. Marc David’s team was therefore on the right track at the time of the break, leading 2-0 and above all close to a second victory of the current exercise.
It only remained for Alexey Liventsov to finish the job against Abdel Kader Salifou. Alas, this third explanation of the evening turned to the advantage of the table tennis player from Chartres, having scored important points in the final round which he finally won 11 to 8.
Having grilled a joker, the Villeneuvois then counted on a new performance from Jules Cavaillé. But the one who had been so brilliant in the opening match tripped over the carpet against Florian Lambert, losing in 3 sets.
And during the last duel, Yohan Derit could not do anything against the Brazilian Vicor Ishiy, also surrendering fairly quickly in 3 rounds.
Admir Duranspahic’s band was poorly paid for their efforts and their good state of mind with this cruel defeat (2-3). But as a former US Tournon player rightly pointed out in the spans, the PPCV now has nothing to lose and must play completely uninhibited. What he managed to do in front of Chartres during the first two meetings…
