ALGECIRAS (CÁDIZ), September 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PP of Algeciras has asked this Thursday that the Campo de Gibraltar region “have a voice” in the negotiations that are taking place between Spain and the United Kingdom over the Rock after Brexit, also announcing that its municipal group in the City Council will carry in plenary session a joint statement on this matter.
The spokesperson for the municipal group of the Popular Party in the City Council of Algeciras (Cádiz), Jacinto Muñoz, has announced in statements to the media the presentation of a joint statement in which the Government of Spain is requested “firmly and unanimously” that in the negotiations that are being carried out on Gibraltar with the British Government, “in which the Government of the Rock is present”, there are representatives of the Campo de Gibraltar.
“We do not ask that it be with a vote but we do ask that they have a voice in these negotiations, where Campo de Gibraltar is truly represented with institutions and personnel from this area,” argued Muñoz.
The popular spokesperson in Algeciras has made reference to the meeting that will be held on October 9 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, with the mayors of the region, the Commonwealth and the Government of Andalusia, and in which will report on how the negotiations are developing.
In that sense, he has indicated that what his party is asking for is that “apart from the information that the minister is going to give to the mayors of the region, that in these negotiations there be representatives of the Campo de Gibraltar, who are an active part of those negotiations.” and that they at least have a voice in those negotiations.”
