The provincial congress of the PP has ratified Javier Santiago as the new leader of the party in León. He has done it with the support of 93% of the delegates. The new president sets himself a challenge to regain the weight of the PP in the Leonese institutions in the face of the 2023 elections. The great objective is to return to govern the Diputación. For this he aspires to win again in most of the 16 large municipalities. Now they only have 3. And choose 150 of the 211 municipalities in their favor
For this, Javier Santiago’s PP will try to attract the Lions vote. In the political presentation of the party, which has come forward unanimously by all the delegates except for one abstention, the Leonese PP recognizes for the first time that Castilla y León is a community with two regions and two speeds of development. It even includes claims such as the decentralization of administrations. They have called it “useful lionism.” A position that seems to have endorsed the number two of the PP at the national level Teodoro García Egea who closed the congress with this council for the new president: “Between your land and your acronyms, always choose your land”
Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, the president of the Board and of the autonomous PP, also participated in the closing, who asked Javier Santiago to work to close the differences that exist within the party in the province
