The Potential Transfer of Ballistic Missiles: Iran’s Cooperation with Russia

Iran may transfer ballistic missiles to Russia

According to him, the Russian Federation is becoming increasingly isolated in the world, and its military cooperation with Iran is deepening.

The United States believes that such cooperation is dangerous for Ukraine. The White House representative also noted that Iran is already transferring a significant number of drones, aerial bombs and artillery ammunition to the Russian Federation. The Russian Federation uses these weapons to wage war against Ukraine.

The United States also fears that Iran may be preparing to transfer ballistic missiles to Russia.

“We are concerned that Iran is considering providing ballistic missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine,” Kirby said.

What kind of missiles are we talking about?

In September, Ababil and Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missiles were demonstrated to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Tehran.

The White House clarified that in return the Russian Federation is supplying Iran with sophisticated military technologies. We are talking about electronics, air defense systems and satellite data collection.

As an example, Kirby spoke about Iran’s purchase of Russian Su-35 aircraft, and Tehran also wants to purchase attack helicopters, radars and training aircraft from Moscow.

Kirby also clarified that Iran wants to receive billions of dollars worth of military equipment from the Russian Federation. In this way, the country will strengthen its military potential.

The question of Iran’s possible transfer of missiles to Russia

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has enlisted Iran’s help in the supply of Shahed-type kamikaze drones, and recently reports began to appear about possible supplies of missiles from Tehran to Moscow.

Earlier, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) admitted the possibility of an agreement between Russia and Iran on the transfer of missiles.

In addition, Israeli Mossad intelligence director David Barnea recently announced that Iran intends to transfer short- and long-range missiles to Russia in addition to Shahed kamikaze drones.
