Ukraine’s entry into NATO would create a “threat to Russia’s security.” This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the air of “Russia-24” TV, TASS agency reported.
“As for Ukraine’s membership in NATO, we have repeatedly said that it poses threats to Russia’s security. And in fact, one of the reasons for the special military operation is the threat of Ukraine joining NATO. I am sure that this (joining NATO) will not increase the security of Ukraine itself, but will lead to additional tension on the international stage, “said the President of the Russian Federation.
Commenting on the supply of weapons to Kiev, Putin noted that Russia sees how much hope is being placed on the supply of long-range missiles. “Yes, they (missiles) cause damage, but nothing critical happens in the war zone with these missiles,” he said.
Ukraine must guarantee its security, but not at the expense of creating threats to Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin is convinced, commenting on the possibility of NATO accepting Ukraine.
“Each country has the right to guarantee its security and, of course, it has the right to choose the way to achieve this goal that it considers the most correct for itself. There is only one limitation to guarantee the security of Ukraine – it is due to the fact that when one country’s security is achieved, there should be no threat to another country,” Putin said.
Ukrainian servicemen are afraid to use Western tanks, as they are a priority target for the Russian military, Vladimir Putin also said. “I can say that Ukrainian servicemen often refuse to even get into these Western tanks because they are a priority target for our soldiers. And they burn like all the others, even better than the other well-known Soviet-made T-72s,” Putin said.
