Most people are used to going to work from Monday to Friday and spending around 8 hours a day. However, there are proposals to change this well-established standard.

When you think of working hours, most people imagine today a perfectly normal five-day work week consisting of forty hours worked. Many do not even realize that this absolute standard has not been around for that long. As the server reminds iToday, the five-day working week and thus also the two-day holiday in Czechoslovakia was officially introduced by the then government only in 1968, i.e. only 55 years ago. There are now proposals for further changes to this standard.
A work week that only has 35 hours
This new idea came from the state in Poland, namely the politician Włodzimierz Czarzasty from the Nowa Lewica party. Specifically, he proposed that there should be a general change in working hours, when reduced the working day to 7 hoursthe website writes BuddhanessInsider. He would go about implementing this plan gradually, first he would take 2 hours out of the work week and only then he would get to a total of 5 hours. Czarzasty then justified the proposal with a simple idea, namely that work should not be the only meaning of life for people, adds BudinessInsider.

However, this is far from the only idea that has appeared in recent years in connection with changing working hours. The idea of a four-day work week became very widespread. After all, a large part of Czechs would also be in favor of this change. This year’s survey by the agency Ipsos and the company Welcome to the jungle shows that 70 percent of people would like to try this change, according to the website iRozhlas.
Less work for the same money?
Although many people would welcome the reduction of working hours with enthusiasm. Immediately afterwards, the question arises for many of them as to who would be affected and how much they would actually get paid. Many will think that logically, they will also receive lower earnings for fewer hours worked. However, you don’t have to worry about that, because as the website says Newstream, “a shorter working week means that the employer gets less of the employee’s work for the same money, i.e. for the same wage”.
Now I’m asking in all seriousness because that’s how I see the development too, do you think retail will change to 4 days + 1 half day?

Although everything looks very attractive on paper, how it would work in practice is a big unknown. This can partly be estimated from the examples in France, where experiments with a shorter work week have been going on for several decades. However, the desired improvement does not occur much here. As the Newstream server adds, despite these efforts, unemployment in France is still high and the life satisfaction of citizens has not come close to the expected higher values.
Would you be in favor of introducing a four-day working week across the board? Tell us what you think about the idea
