From the Society of Butchers of Rosario they warned that there will be an increase in the price of meat, and consequently of chicken and pork, which will rise between 30 and 40 percent in the coming months. This is because this sector did not keep up with the increases in most items, as a result of the oversupply brought by the drought, and the election year is also an influencing factor.
The referent of the Rosario butchers society, Juan Ramos, recalled in contact with the first of the afternoon (Radio 2) that “meat last February had an increase of 40 percent and then stabilized until today. That is forming an accumulated that at some point will have to be compensated ”.
Asked why there were no increases since then, Ramos explained that “this is due to the drought, which caused a lot of farms to be fished and there was an oversupply. Which produces that the price is stabilized, and we have been in a plateau since then ”.
In this way, Ramos warned that “there is no doubt that there will be an increase”, and asked when and what percentages are expected to be released: “Surely the increase will be in September or October, perhaps gradually. I estimate that the increase will be between 30 and 40 percentbecause costs have gone up in everything else.”
Then he broke down: “Meat depends on supply and demand, and right now there is a lot of supply. But you have to add the costs to the producer. Raising animals is very expensive, and gasoline is increasing, which costs to transport the field to the refrigerator, and from there to the butcher shops.
Asked about pork and chicken, he recalled about the first that “it had some increases. They were down 3 percent,” and chicken “had an increase, but then it went down and stabilized.”
Then he highlighted the correlation between the three products in his sector: “If beef holds up, it’s hard for pork and chicken to run on their own. In this way, with the increase they will surely accompany, it can be sooner or later ”.
