Replace specialists?
Lynne Arsenault, who founded a firm near Boston that oversees grant applications, has applied Mollick’s advice to her work, though not without apprehension. “I was a little apprehensive even about her[AI applications]experience,” Arsenault said. “There is a question whether my role in writing grant applications will disappear in the next few years.”
Arsenault quickly discovered the potential and limitations of ChatGPT when she finally started using it. For example, when you write the first draft of a proposal proposal, it feeds the chatbot some software prompts, and it starts writing the request quickly. This, says Arsenault, helps her with the writing difficulties she sometimes struggles with, saving her about an hour out of the five hours it would take for a task to work on.
Then, Arsenault would start feeding the robot another copy of the finished proposal for proofreading. Arsenault says other small business owners she knows use ChatGPT to write emails and marketing texts.

However, the small business owner has shown that AI applications often perform with limitations, as first drafts are usually bland and lack the nuances needed to describe the complex work her clients do.
Arsenault went on to find that there is much more to what she does than just being able to write; It is critical that you build strong relationships with donors, as well as an encyclopedic knowledge of grant opportunities that may not be widely advertised. It’s also very important to check for errors, Arsenault said, because bots are prone to making mistakes.
