“The Post Office” is staged at the National Theater; the audience will be asked to remove their shoes before the performance

In 2021, the new director Elīza Dombrovska graduated from the LKA Directing Course under the guidance of Elmārs Senkova and Māras Ķimele, before that she studied at the Riga Dome Choir School, which allows her first performances to be described as musical-poetic adventures, avoiding everyday means of expression.

Like many young artists, Eliza also participates in performances herself, and the audience of the National Theater had the opportunity to appreciate Eliza Dombrovska’s stage courage, high sense of truth and sensitivity in Walter Silas’ play “Commune”.

The poetic musical performance invites you to reflect on dreaming, expectations and liberation. One hundred years ago, Rabindranath Tagore considered it important – no matter how young his interlocutor – to talk about death. The sense of time of the performance is similar to the moment when you try to tell someone what you sensed in your dream… if only there was the right postman who could translate your feelings into the right words.
The director dedicates the following words to the performance: “Yes, you have been sent a postcard that wants to be read. On the back of the card is written in almost illegible handwriting “ […] but some sick boy in the far land of Bengal, who sees more than all of us, while we ourselves remain invisible, sings of… who can understand? – I will not show, NO…”

PS Attention! In the show, they sit on mattresses and everyone walks as one without shoes in beautiful socks!
PPS …I miss you!”

The creative team of the show includes the director and playwright Elīza Dombrovska, set designer and costume designer Paulīne Kalniņa, composer Jēkabs Nīmanis, lighting designer Krista Erdmanes, choreographer Įrts Dubults. Starring: Jana Lisova, Uldis Anže, Gundars Grasbergs.
