Now it seems that all the talk and estimates have weighed in favor of something opposite – that interest rates will be high for at least the next 10 years or much longer. Photo: Olivier Le Moal, Scanpix
There is a growing assumption that a high percentage of the world’s society is looking forward to the next 10 years or more.
The end of October and the beginning of November in the financial world passed in the shade of the meetings of the world’s most powerful central banks. In this sense, the big news this time is not about raising rates, but not changing them. Namely, neither the European Central Bank (ECB), nor the US Federal Reserve System (FRS), nor the Bank of England finally changed their main currency interest rates. What is happening thus raises quite reasonable suspicions that this could be the highest point of interest rates. Judging by the market’s reaction, it can indeed be judged, although of course it cannot be completely ruled out that central bankers do fire one last rate hike around the turn of the year.
