The Porsche 911 Turbo 2021 arrives with 572 horsepower

It is now the turn of the most emblematic of the 911 to be introduced into the 992 generation range: the Porsche 911 Turbo.

It looks like Porsche never stopped expanding the range of the 911. Every year, or almost every month, we discover a new version. Whether it’s the 4, the 4S, the Targa, the convertible, the Turbo S or possibly the GT2, GT3, GT3 RS, there is always something new. This week, however, one of the most emblematic models is unveiled, the Porsche 911 Turbo.

Brand new for 2021, it shows up with a design almost identical to that of the 911 Turbo S unveiled last March. In fact, the only major difference comes from the configuration of the exhaust pipes. The Turbo S has 4 oval shaped and the Turbo has 4 rectangular. For the rest, we keep the same formula with widened tracks of 1.8 inch at the back and 0.78 at the front. With this approach, the Turbo literally sits on its 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. We renew the extremely important aerodynamic elements such as the active flaps in the shield, the active spoiler and the aileron adapting to driving and speed. A touch of recall from the old generation, the optical units renew the PDLS PLUS LED technology as standard.

Undeniably, what interests the buyer is under the back cover: the engine. As the trend requires at Porsche, we are renewing the 3.8-liter 6-cylinder flat. In this Turbo livery, it does not push less than 572 horsepower with a torque of 553 pound-feet. This is 32 more horsepower than the previous 911 Turbo. We must also consider that there is a concession in terms of cavalry since the Turbo S develops 641 horsepower. As for the transmission, for the time being, there is only one possibility, the same PDK 8-speed automatic transmission with double clutch that we also get in the Turbo S.

Obviously, we are entitled to a veritable orgy of technologies. Suspensions are always one of the most interesting points at Porsche. With this Turbo, two options are available. The famous and downright exceptional PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) are standard. According to Porsche, they offer a balance between dynamism and comfort. Those who want to stay on the side of pure sportiness can opt for PASM Sport, an option at only $ 1,720. The latter allows the car to be lowered by 10 millimeters.

Other interesting features are the all-wheel drive and the PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control). The possibility of an even more dynamic version of the PDCC is possible with the Sport PDCC at $ 3,610 which also includes a torque vector. All four wheels are directional and of course, there are options for the exhaust system that range from $ 3,990 to $ 4,480. For a more powerful braking system, there is still the option of PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake) which starts at $ 11,020.

By juxtaposing all these characteristics, the new Porsche 911 Turbo 2021 can complete the 0-100 kilometer per hour in just 2.8 seconds for the coupe version. In this regard, there is a gain of 0.2 seconds compared to the 991. Top speed remains illegal, with a maximum of 320 kilometers per hour. Canadian prices are known, the coupe version starts at $ 194,400 while the convertible starts at $ 209,000. Obviously, these prices are before going into the accessories and options department…
