The Poreñu is also from the neighbors

In 2019, with the extinction of the Ramón Álvarez de Arriba Foundation, the land was donated to the CTIC Foundation. Priesca also explained to the neighbors that one of the requirements requested by the Ramón Álvarez de Arriba Foundation when donating the building was precisely to show it to the people and explain what is being done there, “that’s why we do this act today, because we want to respect the spirit of the founder”.

The president of the CTIC Executive Commission, Roberto Paraja, also took part in this presentation activity, who expressed his desire that “the seed that Don Ramón planted can be revitalized in the rural world.”. He also pointed out that the center – the first for Rural Innovation in Spain – will be a key piece to “build the future of the new rural areas, and a tool for the demographic challenge.” Likewise, Paraja stressed the importance of technological innovation reaching rural areas, and thanked the defunct foundation for donating the space, which after a year of adaptation, is already active as “the village of the 21st century.”

On behalf of the people, the president of the Peón y Candanal Valley Neighbors Association, Eliseo Vallina, wanted to show his admiration and respect for Ramón Álvarez de Arriba: “I would like the figure of the founder to be remembered every year, because he left a lot of legacy for Valle de Peón and Candanal.”

After the welcoming interventions, the residents had the opportunity to visit the center’s facilities, in addition to receiving a brief explanation from the workers of the projects they are developing in this facility.

The day ended with a snack enlivened with traditional music by Héctor Braga and Simón San José.
