I became video games Common not only among children, but also among millions of adults around the world. Adults play video games using consoles, computers, and increasingly – their mobile phones. The latter was no less important, as the popularity of games increased dramatically when the time to stay at home increased due to the Corona virus pandemic.
Türkiye is in the lead
According to Statista’s Consumer Insights, Turkey was the country with the highest number of adult gamers in 2023 out of a sample of 56 countries in the 18-64 age group.
92% of respondents reported that they play video games at least on a regular basis, and many of them are mobile game fans. Mobile gaming, a significant growth market, has caught on with people who were not previously interested in these activities by providing easy access at little or no initial cost.
Asia is at an advanced stage
States in these regions show the highest numbers of adults participating in video games. Turkey, Nigeria, India and China, as well as Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia had the highest levels of adult participation in the poll.
Top countries in number of players
The UAE and Saudi Arabia also had significant numbers of gamers, with Saudi Arabia also having the highest percentage of repeat players (33 percent of adults). Game frequency was also high in Turkey, Egypt, Thailand and China, while cross-period play was more common in African and Latin countries. In Japan, a country traditionally associated with video games, it had one of the lowest engagement rates among adults.
Playing on the phone or on the computer?
In the United States, the highest number of adults played on gaming consoles rather than computers and mobile phones. Gaming consoles are also popular in Mexico and Latin America, while computer gaming is preferred in many European countries.
