The Popular Party of El Ejido swept the local elections this Sunday, May 28 and Francisco Gongora He will be able to govern with his free hands what, according to his own words, will be his last term as mayor of Ejido, the fourth in a row. The populars they recover the absolute majority that they lost in 2019 and they do it in a big way, going from 9 to 14 councilors (13 were necessary).
The PP benefits from the expected fall of Cs, which loses its 4 councilors, while Vox falls from 7 to 6, thanks to the candidate Beatriz Sánchez. The PSOE, for its part, maintains in extremis its 5 councilors with Maribel Carrión, the same result as in 2019.
Thus, the corporation will have only three parties representedfor the 4 that were in this last legislature, before the departure of Cs.
“I accept this result with great modesty, because I don’t get the euphoria. I feel very proud of the work that all the colleagues have done, this is the result of the work that we have been doing since 2011, with many people who have been working, each with different tasks, with work teams in all the nuclei of the municipality ”, indicated Góngora after the closing of the recount of votes.
“We have cushioned a very big impact that came to El Ejido in 2011, we have done this work honestly and with great capacity for work and management; we clean up the coffers of the City Council and recover public services; and we have already begun to transform the municipality with investments”.
