The Pope writes to 500 young people of the Coast

Il Holy Father sent a message to the over 500 young people from the Diocese of Amalfi-Cava de’ Tirreni who will meet today at 6pm in Cathedral of San Lorenzo a Scala on the occasion of the meeting “Instruments of Peace“.

The warning

“You have chosen a beautiful theme – we read in the message of Pope Francis to the young people –. It is the urgency we are experiencing in the face of wars and the many people who lose their lives every day, children, the elderly, young people, men and women. Jesus lives and wants you alive! Without peace there is no life. There is only death and destruction“. “There are three safe ways – writes the Pontiff – to become instruments of peace: Fill the day with gestures of peace. In this ancient town of Scala, you can deepen the path of solidarity and dialogue started by Blessed Brother Gerardo Sassofounder and first Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of Malta. In an era of war conflicts he created a Jerusalemaround 1100 AD, the first interreligious hospital. You too, following his example, can build bridges of friendship and mutual solidarity. Brighten every hour of your day by making a gesture of peace: a gesture of service, of tenderness, of forgiveness. Pray with your heart for peace. When we feel helpless in the face of the drama of world scenarios, let us remember that “Nothing is impossible for God” (Lc 1,37)”.

The prayer

We have a very effective weapon which is prayer – the Pope continued – Let us use it! Let us pray more for peace, so that it may come soon. Let us invoke it with faith and trust! Let us make a daily commitment to personal prayer for peace. Gather together to share moments of Eucharistic adoration before the Lord, King of peace. Live as pilgrims of hope. With courage, do not tire of dreaming of just peace and brotherhood, because this is also the Father’s dream: that his children be united and happy, recognizing us all as brothers. Look beyond the night! Do not give in to the thought that war can solve problems and lead to peace. War is always a defeat, a shameful surrender in the face of the forces of evil. Let us remember all the victims, whom we must never forget, and may this memory open us concretely to finding in the present a way out on a path of reconciliation“.
