Subsequently, President Begayi met with Cardinal Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, and also present was Archbishop Vachowski, Undersecretary of the Department for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Council of State of the Holy See.
“During the cordial meeting held by the Vatican Council of State, both sides expressed their appreciation for the existing good bilateral relations and expressed their willingness to further develop cooperation in areas of common interest”, reads a statement from the Hall Press of the Holy See. Furthermore, the parties underlined “the positive contribution of the Catholic community to Albanian society”.
During the talks, the two sides “referred to Albania’s integration process into the European Union, as well as a number of issues in the regional and international context, including the war in Ukraine and its impact on the Western Balkans”.
