Pope Francis was welcomed in Brussels by 6,000 young people – participants of the “Hope Happiness” festival. The presence of the Vatican guest on the evening of September 28 was a pleasant surprise for them.

In an impromptu speech, Francis told the young people not to be afraid to make noise, to help each other and not to neglect prayer. When it was announced from the level of the “Expo” in Brussels that Francis would arrive in a minute, great applause and shouts went out in the hall, young people sang and danced. Young people from Belgium and neighboring countries attended the festival, as well as families with children, priests, consecrated persons and groups of believers. They thought they would see the Pope on Sunday, while Francis already came to them on Saturday afternoon.
Cheers started when the pope appeared in a wheelchair amidst smoke and purple lights revealing two large neon crosses. A young man asked him in Italian, “Shall we take the first selfie?”
The Pope began to communicate with the participants of the festival: “Do you know what young people do? I will answer: young people make noise!” From the platform, Francis referred to the child resting in his mother’s arms: “Do you see him? He is the greatest of all of you, because Jesus told us that he is the greatest became a child. He is the greatest of them all,” said the holy Father.
