For now, the Progressive Front is avoiding public statements on a stinging issue. Moreover, when today Senator Armando Traferri – the main leader splattered by Ponce Asahad’s complaint – is expected to present a document in court and that tomorrow and Friday the prosecutors in the case will take new procedural steps.
The provincial deputy Joaquín Blanco, president of the PS-Progressive Front bloc and of the monitoring commission of the investigation into the participation of Ponce Asahad and the former regional prosecutor of Rosario Patricio Serjal in different crimes, evaluates calling this legislative space next Friday, with a somewhat clearer judicial scenario.
The truth is that beyond the evolution of the case, the serious accusations of Ponce Asahad – among other things, that Traferri is the articulator of a structure linked to clandestine gambling and with ramifications in the institutions – there is a particularly tense moment in the ruling party, not only between the Gray House and the Peronist senators, but also within the bloc itself.
The one who added spice to the day is the Minister of Security, Marcelo Saín, who retweeted a tweet from the radical leader Eugenio Malaponte, in which the predecessor of Omar Perotti and the San Lorenzo senator appear smiling, and that carries a more than caustic text towards the efforts of the Progressive Front and the Peronist leader.
On the contrary, the president of the PJ bloc in Deputies, Leandro Busatto, asked for caution. “It is clear that what is happening has a huge impact, but you have to be very cautious, let things go through the institutional lanes that correspond,” asked the legislator.
From the other spaces with legislative representation they demanded that the material be distributed.
“Our position is that justice must act to the last consequences in light of the seriousness of the statements,” said the president of the Equality bloc, Agustina Donnet. Everything must have the maximum publicity and transparency in the face of society ”.
The president of the Social and Popular Front-Ciudad Futura bloc, Carlos del Frade, said that it is essential that they speak for the political actors involved because otherwise “anti-politics will advance and the seeds of fascism will multiply.” And he added: “Not all the political sectors are involved, but these denunciations make the majority dirty if those directly mentioned by Ponce Asahad do not speak. The joint session on Thursday is a great possibility. “
At the other end of the political spectrum, the look is similar. “The material must be distributed so that everyone has access,” said Julián Galdeano, head of the Together for Change block. The head of the Somos Vida y Familia block, Nicolás Mayoraz, described the case as “very serious.” And he added: “That all the necessary investigations be carried out, and that the judge and prosecutors have all the support and resources so that whoever is investigated.”
General unrest in the Senate
The statement of former prosecutor Gustavo Ponce Asahad accentuated the differences within the Peronist bloc in the Senate but paradoxically put an imminent rupture in the freezer.
“Our differences do not come from now, but we have to wait,” one of the legislators loyal to Governor Omar Perotti told this newspaper. Ponce Asahad is a bandit and Justice will have to prove what he says, but if he does, he will have to pay whoever is responsible ”.
Today in the afternoon in Santa Fe there will be a key meeting of the PJ bloc in the Upper House, which for now maintains its twelve members. Its president and principal dotted by the words of Ponce Asahad, Armando Traferri, has already made it known that he does not intend to leave his bench.
In the group of legislators close to Perotti they warned that the differences were throughout the year, but that the laws that they interpret as direct attacks on Minister Sain and the budget were the bankruptcy. Likewise, they pointed out: “This is not the time to present the note and announce a new block, it would not be a good gesture.”
However, another legislator in this group warned that the possibility of rupture “is latent”. “Perhaps too much was waited, thinking that the budget had to be voted, and that the ordinary sessions were already ending,” he lamented. In this sector, the calculations are optimistic: they believe that if the break is made they could build a bloc with six senators, half of the current one.
But nevertheless, in the PJ bloc there is not only anger with their own but also with the opposition and the Justice. “How can it be that if this works three years ago nobody has controlled it; Traferri, (Senator Felipe) Michlig and Lifschitz were voting partners but nobody knew anything, ”the Peronist senator questioned. On the other hand, the judge sent the video to Deputies and not to Senators, it is a serious fact ”.
